Topics include mycotoxins, pesticide residues, heavy metals, foodborne pathogens, and the toxicology of food processing by products. This field also studies nutrient–drug interactions and the safety of dietary supplements. Regulatory agencies rely on food toxicology data to establish safe intake limits and labelling requirements. Advances in detection methods and risk assessment tools are improving food safety globally.
